Cornflour Powder

Shreeji Cornflour can be used as a binder for puddings or similar foods, or as a thickener for sauces, stews, and similar dishes.Cornflour is a thickening agent that is the bland, gluten-free alternative to flour for frying and for sauces and gravies. Use it in cakes, cookies, pies, and a host of other sweet goods as well. Many cooks prefer using cornflour as it imparts no additional flavor to foods.

Direction of Use

    • Rinse a mould or small basin with cold water 
    • Blend the cornflour with some of the milk.
    • Place the remainder of the milk, the sugar, lemon zest and vanilla in saucepan and bring to the boil.
    • When nearly boiling, remove from the stove, lift out the rind and stir in the blended cornflour.
    • Stir well, return to the heat and cook for three minutes after the mixture comes back to the boil.
    • Stand the mould in a shallow basin of cold water to set.
    • Chill before serving.
    • When very cold, loosen around the edge of the moulds and turn out onto a serving dish.
    • Serve with stewed, fresh or dried fruit.
